Tickets for this workshop are available at: ==> https://sandiegocraft.org/product/natural-dye/ <== WHAT: Introduction to Natural Dye | Samples + Scarves DATE: Sunday, March 10, 2024, 1-5 pm WHERE: San Diego Craft Collective, 2590 Truxtun Rd, #106, Point Loma, CA An ancient and eco-centered craft, Natural Dyes are a place to connect with the beauty and bounty of our planet’s rich offerings while creating with color and using our hands and minds to refresh our homes, wardrobes and to create one-of-a-kind palettes. In this hands-on workshop students will learn the entire process of natural dyeing while incorporating creative design elements through resist dye methods of Shibori. Each student will Shibori and hand-dye three natural fiber silk &/or bamboo scarves or squares to take home or gift to loved ones. If you’ve ever looked into using Natural Dyes, you may have been intimidated by the many facets of the process. We’ll cover them all–scour, mordant, preparation of natural dye, basic Shibori dye resist methods, natural dyeing & finishing–in great detail so you can get to creating with natural color today. All materials included. Students will receive an ‘Intro to Natural Dyes’ booklet that covers the entire process in detail, three natural fiber scarves to dye and Shibori, and samples from the dye pots. I will have additional scarves available for sale in case anyone would like to purchase more to dye in class or later at home.
